Spring Festivals: How to Celebrate The Season of Renewal Around the World

As nature and people alike start to wake from a winter slumber, celebrations are in order to ring in spring and the longer days to come. The season of renewal and new life is celebrated as the official new year in many cultures, such as Indian, Thai, and Persian. Throughout my many years spent traveling, I have been pelted with water balloons during Songkran on the streets of Bangkok, have been caught in a flurry of colors at Holi celebrations in Mumbai, and have feasted for Nowruz in Kurdistan. Experiencing the multi-cultural reverence of the season has made the transition from winter into spring quickly one of my favorite times of the year — and has brought some of my most memorable adventures. From flower festivals to fire festivities and fabulous feasts, join a spring awakening celebration on your next adventure.
